A year later, they'd start to climb even higher, but in 1979 they were just another working rock & roll band, playing gig after gig, including this spot for Rockpalast on German television. Geils Band their reputation as one of the most compelling onstage acts of the day. They spent the past decade working hard, releasing a record a year and touring their ass off, labor that started to pay off with 1978's Sanctuary, which produced their first Top Ten hit in four years via One Last Kiss. The band had a number of modest and eventually some big hits during their years with Atlantic, among them 'First I Look At The Purse,' 'Whammer Jammer,' and 'Looking For A Love.' However, during this period, it was actually the high energy live show that gave the J. Geils Band were at a bit of a crossroads in 1979. It's a short ( two minutes, twenty-one seconds) but lively cover of a Juke Joint Jimmy tune which allows Richard Salwitz, a.k.a. Geils Band's second disc, The Morning After, with a killer live take on their third lp and first stage recording Full House Live.
